Game 4: Swift Current at Edmonton
(Series tied 2-2)
Riley Campbell spoiled the party for the 3,226 fans at ReMax Field in Edmonton as he drove in two runs and scored in the 57’s three-run eighth inning. With the 6-4 win, the visiting Swift Current 57’s forced a winner take all game 5 back in Swift Current on Thursday night to determine the WMBL Championship.
Prior to Campbell’s heroics, Erik Sabrowski smacked a three-run homer in the bottom of the sixth inning to give the Prospects a 4-3 lead.
Zaine Foth-Thomas, the left handed local product, started for Edmonton and lasted five innings. The freshman from Cisco Community College gave up three runs on seven hits while walking three and striking out five. Marion McLean came on in relief and faced 11 batters over two innings. He gave up two runs on four hits before handing the ball over to Andrew Grieder to close out the final two innings of the game.
Swift Current sent Windsor native Bobby St. Pierre to the hill. St. Pierre was making his fourth start of the post-season and he was stellar in his 6.2 innings of work. The Wayne State College senior allowed four runs on four hits and two walks. He also had five strikeouts. Keil Krumwiede, earned the win by pitching 2.1 scoreless innings.
Riley Campbell finished the game with four hits and two stolen bases on the night while Nick Canas added three hits including two doubles for Swift Current.
