Red Sox Win 2012 WMBL Championship

They called it Mission Repeat.

Mission accomplished.

With a 7-3 win over the Medicine Hat Mavericks, the Regina Red Sox were crowned 2012 WMBL Champions on Wednesday night at Athletic Park, their second consecutive league title.

Randy Ramirez launched a two-run home run, Chris Untereiner added a solo blast, and Ryne Drummonds worked seven solid innings to earn the Game Four win, giving the Red Sox a 3-1 edge in the best-of-five Championship Series.

For the Red Sox, back-to-back championships are validation of another summer of hard work both on and off the field.

"It's a band of brothers," said pitcher Daniel Jones. "From top to bottom, we put this together as a family."

Under first-year head coach Justin Eiswirth, the Red Sox finished the regular season with the league's best overall record at 34-12, and winning nine of ten playoff games, can call themselves on of the best teams in league history.

"It's an exhilarating feeling," said Eiswirth. "Our players, the front office, a lot of work goes into this and it's great to see it pay off."
